Welcome to Chestnut Hill Goats!
I am Melvin Stoltzfus and I love dairy goats. Occasionally, I
get off of the beaten track and end up in the weeds about some aspect
or other about dairy goats and their problems and potential. I have
several themes that I will come back to as anchoring thoughts.
1. Dairy goats are animals that produce milk from feed for an economical price point. (This price includes time, frustration and stress)
2. Genetics, Genetics, Genetics. You have to pick the genetics you want. There are very few/no goats that can check all the boxes because the boxes are too far from one another.
3. Show herds are reservoirs of solid genetics that do fit with #1 on this list mixed with plenty of ideas and ideals that will not work with #1 on this list.
